CIT Camp

Brandon and Kaitlin have been gone for just over a week now.  It is dull without Brandon and his antics.  And Kaitlin's quiet presence is missed.

After leaving church Sunday night Scott's phone showed a voice mail.  It was from Kaitlin.  I had been hoping all weekend to hear from them and was sorely disappointed when we missed her call.  Thankfully, a couple hours later the phone rang and Kaitlin was on the other end.  As I was chatting with her Brandon walked by so I was able to talk to him too.  When I was on the phone with him I told him to make sure that he made it into a camp picture.  He did it!

They are really enjoying their CIT training and time at the Wilds.  God has already been at work in their hearts through the teaching and preaching of Jim Berg, Scott Ashmore, Tom Farrell, and others.  It's hard to believe but Brandon said on Sunday night he was already worn out.  From the picture above, taken this week at camp, he looks like his energy is back.

Thanks for praying for them!

HAPPY 14th BIRTHDAY KAITLIN!!!

Today our oldest daughter turns another year older. In just a couple short weeks she will begin high school. And in 4 short years she will head off to college. And that is as far as I care to look into the future...thank you very much. :-)

This past year Kaitlin has matured greatly. She is becoming a beautiful young lady. Kaitlin's personality has always been very quiet and calm. It has been exciting to see her really break out of herself.

Her musical talent continues to strengthen and she enjoys using her gifts for the Lord. She is playing for congregational singing and was the lead piano for this summer's youth camp. I don't think this is something she would have imagined herself doing a couple years ago.

Kaitlin is a tremendous blessing to us and we thank God for her!

Happy Birthday Kaitlin!!! We love you very much!

Skit night at camp

High school reunion skit - The teams plan the different skits for skit night. This was the team Brandon was on. Brandon's friend "Nacho" (with glasses) plays the cool football player. He kept cracking me up because he is so shy around our house but as his character he kept looking at me and making faces.
High school reunion skit - Brandon plays the most popular guy who is now fascinated with an egg. He really got into the part and had an old man's character voice. We were told many times that he was hilarious. It's one thing to be funny in your native language but something else in a second language.
The big family skit - At first I thought they were spoofing us, but they say they weren't. The mom gets a great job offer and the dad stays at home with the kids. One night the mom's boss comes for dinner and all kinds of havoc breaks out.
The big family skit - Bethany and Kaitlin's team planned this one. At this point (I didn't get it a photo of it) the kids spill water and drop flour onto the boss. After that the baby is naughty. And finally the dog jumps onto the table. After the boss runs out and the mom follows, the dad pays the kids. This skit was really a slapstick type of comedy - no Spanish needed.

Birthday Pictures

Kaitlin had her friends over for the day - L to R, Jessica, Kaitlin, Eliana, Bethany and Yanina holding Silas.
Blowing out the candles. Simeon is helping Kaitlin.
Bethany's Flower cupcakes.
Kaitlin's cake. It was quite hot yesterday so the frosting is melting and slipping off the cake.

A new stage of parenting...a.k.a. braces.

A new stage in parenting began when Brandon and Kaitlin had spacers placed between their molars in preparation for braces. Kaitlin will need to have three teeth pulled. One was already pulled and it was not a good experience as she was only numb for a few minutes and felt everything. The last two extractions should be better as we'll make sure to ask for more anesthetic.

Soon we will have both of them setting off the metal detectors at the grocery stores. Just kidding, Brandon and Kaitlin! I guess since they read the blog I need to refrain from any more jokes and I definitely should not go into all the various names for people with braces. I'll just leave it to your imagination.
